I found this lesson on a blog, Mr. Knight's Smartest Artists and I thought it looked so amazingly awesome that the 5th graders should give it a try! This project will introduce Op Art, an art style that incorporates optical illusions by using contrast and color that create movement. The students will be using 1 point perspective to create their Op Art. By using perspective their art will look 3-dimensional.
When the students begin coloring their artwork they will be using complementary colors. Complementary colors are colors that are opposite on the color wheel. Colors that are complementary would be: Red and Green, Orange and Blue, or Purple and Yellow
