I saw this video a while back and thought it was a very interesting way of introducing sculptures into everyday life. I wish I could see this in real life, it would make my day!

Today I spent the majority of the day painting...and watching Mad Men simutaneoulsy. I wanted to finish my paintings before school started so of course I wait until the last weekend to actually finish but they turned out well. For some reason I enjoy painting everyday, mundane objects especially objects that have cords or wire. I like the intricacy of the cords and how detailed I can get in such a small area. To the left is one painting of Christmas lights. I know I'm a little early to be painting lights but I knew if I didn't do it now I wouldn't have time to do it. This photo is a little shiny because there is still paint drying. I thought I would add a blog onto my website so I can show other fun art projects, pictures of works in progress and share my thoughts about how awesome art is! We are one long weekend away from starting the first week of school. A week ago I didn't feel ready but now that I've started making seating charts and thinking of upcoming lessons the teaching bug is getting there! While following the blog, Adventures of an Art Teacher, I found this great example of texture. There are soooo many amazing art blogs out there! I'll try to link as many as I can. Clothesline Awesomeness! One project that I really, really want to do with my 5th graders is this clotheslines idea I saw, again, on Adventures of an Art Teacher. She had her students paint a monochromatic sky and then use fabric to cut out their own clothes for their clothes line. I think this is beautiful and creative, I am a little obsessed with this project. |
