While the 3rd graders are drawing penguins, my 4th graders are drawing snowmen! This is also a fun art lesson because it has instant results! All it takes is a little blending with a paper towel and you've got a snowmen that looks 3D!

Value Penguins

I have done this art lesson for the past couple of years and it is always a big hit! Mainly because everyone loves penguins!
This year the background will be a little different. Instead of using watercolors to paint the background, we'll use bleeding tissue paper. When you put the tissue paper on paper and then get it wet, the color starts to "bleed" onto the paper, creating a great painted effect.

We use separate paper to draw the penguin on, using black and white oil pastels. We cut out the penguin and glue it onto the background paper.
