This sort of creative inspiration makes me wish I had photoshop...
I found this quote by Elliot Eisner, professor of art and education at Stanford University and decided to take one of my photographs and add the quote.

I saw this lesson on Pinterest and thought it would be a fabulous and imaginative art lesson. Students will be able to create their own treehouse using a variety of mediums. The 3rd graders will learn how to create SPACE by using foreground, middleground and background. They will overlap the tree and leaves ontop of and behind the tree house to create layers. They will also create TEXTURE by using a sponge to paint the clouds and markers to draw the bark on trees. They can use string for a rope and broken Popsicle sticks for the ladder. One art lesson that I did last year that has gotten the most requests from students are Identity Maps. These maps are inspired by artist, Aaron Meshon who creates maps about the people and places he loves. Students will create maps all about themselves by creating imaginative scenes that tell a story. Their map must have signs to identify the different locations and at least 2 roads that are labeled. Students will be able to define the word cartography and be able to express personal stories and experiences. They will use markers, colored pencils and crayons to draw their map on a white piece of paper. Then cut out their island and glue onto a piece of blue paper. Finally, give their island a name on a separate piece of paper. |
