Congratulations to the three of you and your outstanding art!
The art teachers of Becker got together and each chose 2 pieces of art created by students. These 8 pieces of art are hanging in the district office to show the amazing artistic ability in Becker. In the intermediate building the three artists are 5th grader, Naomi B., 4th grader, Kevin Z and 3rd grader, Jazalynn P! Jazalynn created her artwork last year that hangs in the district office but now she's a 3rd grader so that makes her an intermediate student!
Congratulations to the three of you and your outstanding art!

Learning about where art comes from in the world is very important because if we don't know where it came from we won't understand it. The 5th grade is learning about Arabesque designs. An arabesque is a detailed decoration using rhythm and pattern. The arabesque designs are commonly found in Islamic art in countries like Egypt and Somalia. Students will create a beautiful Arabesque design using metal foil. The students will be embossing on the foil. Embossing is carving a design to create a raised design. When the students are embossing their designs must be symmetrical, made up of similar parts facing each other. This is one of my favorite lessons that the 3rd graders get to do! They are learning about Australia and the people from Australia, the Aborigines. Aborigines are people who are native to Australia which means they were the first to live in Australia. The students will draw at least 3 Australian Animals and then add pattern inside their animals. Students will then color in the pattern with oil pastel. The last step is painting the dots all around the animals. To do this, we will be using the eraser side of the pencil, dip the pencils in the paint and dot away! The 4th graders will be learning a fun technique for drawing Birch Trees. The students will be using masking tape to make their trees by ripping off pieces to make the trunk and branches. Once they finish making all their trees they will use watercolors to paint their sky and ground. After the watercolor had dried they will peel off the tape to reveal a white birch tree. Then students will draw black lines to complete their birch tre |
