Students will create a beautiful Arabesque design using metal foil. The students will be embossing on the foil. Embossing is carving a design to create a raised design. When the students are embossing their designs must be symmetrical, made up of similar parts facing each other.
Learning about where art comes from in the world is very important because if we don't know where it came from we won't understand it. The 5th grade is learning about Arabesque designs. An arabesque is a detailed decoration using rhythm and pattern. The arabesque designs are commonly found in Islamic art in countries like Egypt and Somalia.
